I recommend that you utilize butterfly valves in lieu of plug valves for seawater application. Butterfly valves had proven reliable in our harsh seawater service applications and it is much less expensive than plug valves or gate valves. We are utilizing ductile iron ASTM A395 body internally rubber lined for this application. Valves wetted parts can be made of Alu-Bronze or Monel.
