If you have not used Excel or any other spreadsheet, I would say, it is worth experimenting. Excel is not difficult to learn, one can learn it in about a weeks time, by self. There are several functions and methods, such as the Goal seek, which would do the reverse of a formula. That is to say you have f(x) = ax + c. If you know the value of the f(x), Excel can help you approximate the value of x.

I suppose the iterations that you have should be possible by changing the values in the cells.

However if it needs to have a VBA loop, I may be able to help. I use it occasionally.
