Pay careful attention to the disclaimer that you'll find with any
corrosion data. Corrosion rates are highly dependent on individual
service. The are no universal rules for determining corrosion
allowance because the rates vary so highly between various
environments. There's a mandatory corrosion allowance in Section VIII
for vessels containing air, but for nothing else.
