A small site about my back injury ( fractured L1 ) and other body parts .
Above is a view of my back on the day after the staples were removed. If I remember correctly, there were 26 staples for the 250mm long incision. There is also a smaller scar further down on the right side on my butt ocks where the surgeon hacked off a bit of my hip bone (sorry for all this medical techno-speak) to use in a graft. Because this webpage is rated G, I can't show you that scar. The visible impressions on my skin are from the Jewett brace that I have to wear when standing or sitting until the healing is complete.
Lucky me, during the fall - or, rather, when the fall came to an abrupt end - I managed to also break my right wrist (the scaphoid ) and I have a Calcaneal fracture on my right foot.
The 21st of September is the review date with the doc, so hopefully my arm cast will come off then and I won't have to use a walker to get around. Obviously, I can still manipulate a mouse and keyboard.
The cast did come off as planned, and on the 18th of October X-rays of all previously broken bits were taken. Everything has healed properly. No more back brace, and I'm ready to get back to work. In a couple of weeks I'll have access to the X-rays and I'll post images showing the bones before, shortly after the surgery and after the knitting has completed.
To Be Continued...
