What exactly is "piping design", anyway?

Piping design is an engineering discipline that is involved in the production of technical documents. These documents include the technical drawings, engineering models, specifications and bills of materials required to construct a process facility such as a refinery, pulp and paper mill or chemical plant. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of piping design is performed with computers. See the software page for more information about the use of engineering software in piping design.

There's reference to a mailing list. I don't want any junk email.

The Piping Design Central automated email lists do not send advertising or promote businesses (although announcements of innovative new products and/or services from members are welcomed). Email addresses are not disclosed to any third party.  It is a closed forum for the discussion of piping-related technical matters. Each subscribe request is approved by the Webmaster to eliminate spam.

How can I get better replies from the PipingDesign.com mailing list?

See this website: How To Ask Questions The Smart Way

Can I advertise at/sponsor Piping Design Central?

Yes.

My pipes don't sound the same anymore. Can you recommend a good tuner? You can try this website.

Can I post my resume at Piping Design Central?

No. PipingDesign.com is no longer accepting resumes for posting at the website.

What is "The Piping Gap"?

This is the term used to describe the relatively recent transition from the manual methods of piping design (drawings and documents created by hand) to computerization. The "Gap" refers to the difference between older, more experienced professionals who are not necessarily computer experts and the newer piping practitioners who have extensive knowledge of software and hardware. PipingDesign.com aims to "close the gap".

Can I link my webpage to Piping Design Central?

This is the internet, you can do anything you want (well, almost)! If you want to display a graphic of the PipingDesign.com logo, you can get one HERE. It is an interlaced GIF image on a transparent background, 150x25 pixels, 4K.

The purpose of PipingDesign.com is to compile as much information and online resources as possible regarding process piping and to facilitate communication between piping engineers, designers and other interested parties.
