ASME B31.2 which was last issued in 1968 was withdrawn from issue in 1988 and is only available for historical requirements.

I would suggest that the gentleman refers to ASME B31.3 as this is what we would use.

100% RADIOGRAPHY AND 100% POST WELD HEAT TREATMENT WOULD BE DEPENDANT UPON THE MEDIA CONTENT (sour / non sour ) AND SELECTED MATERIAL.

In general we would specify 100% radiography of longitudnal SAW (Submerged Arc Welded) pipe to ensure a basic quality factor of 1 (same as for seamless pipe. This quality factor is used in pipe wall thickness calculations and stress calculations.

Post weld heat treatment is generally stated within the ASTM material standards, However for circumferential welds ie. pipe to fitting. this would be carried out either in accordance with ASME B31.8 or as required by the client (sometimes client requests PWHT for all sour piping.)
