but this is a piping forum. your source should be the one applying in piping industry. bella liptak may be a reliable process handbook, but in my book he does not count. by the way, our process guys are using ISA and Chiltons Process Handbook not counting old and reliable Perry's.

I agree with Br. Sharaf. As per famous and reliable Instrument Engineer's Handbook for Process Control (Author:Bela Liptak) 3rd Edition, P&ID stands for "Process and Instrumentation Diagram"
