Steve,

The ITT Flygt website has an online mixer selection for submersible mixers. These are used in biological reactor in sewage applications.

Well Bugger
I missed this demo. In any case the monstosity I designed did the job
at 200W/m^3 (1.5kW (wow), 83rpm , 4 straight blades, tip speed about
3m/s) to suspend reasonably light solids in a rectangular tank (2m X
2.2m X 0,7m, no baffles). Unfortunately available gearbox ratios have
forced me to use a slower speed and longer blade than I would have
liked. It will be better as installed until it bogs out. Then I think
a restart may involve a bit of manual clearing of the blades; a
smaller faster impeller would blast itself out of trouble on a
restart.
Whew! Another one done without extensive study, testing, modelling or
the client knowing what he really needs.
A database of crap engineering outlines, together with results, could
be really handy for jobs which do not warrant the extensive
testing/data required to "Do it Properly"

Irresponsibly yours
Off
> Topic
>
>
>
> Me again
>
> well its not piping but it is piping related.
> Every time I think I have finished with them, someone wants a
bloody
> agitator designed.
> I need some sizing software to estimate powers, speeds, dimensions
as
> the books I use take too long for something which should take an
hour
> at most. The mechanical design takes a little longer.
> Has anyone found a piece of software to do this? I am talking basic
> agitators; turbines, paddles, anchors not those marvels made by
> Lightnin and co.
> I think Google may have found something at:
>
> http://custom.lab.unb.br/pub/asm\ e/FLUID/
>
> It is called mixing11 but I cannot get it to run. could someone who
> is computer literate have a look and tell me who to pay to get it
to
> go? I run Windows 2000, whatever that means.
>
> There appears to be a bit of interesting freeware at that site, so
> you may want to have a look even if you dont care for agitators
> because there appears to be some good fluid stuff there, if
filenames
> are anything to go by.
>
> Thanks in anticipation
