Re: pump nozzle loads

Shivakumar,

There are several ways to reduce moment Mx on pump nozzle depending on the piping layout.
I tried to assume a piping layout for a pump with header perpendicular to pump suction pipe(for end suction pump) with different elevation. In that case, if you reduce the displacement in z direction for header ,you can reduce Mx on pump nozzle.

If you send your piping layout sketch by e mail , I can further study the case.

   Dear friends,

I'm doing analysis for piping where pump is getting    connected at one end. I have fixed the pump nozzle as    fixed point. Since there was a huge value for moment    'Mx', I have introduced one Ry, rotational restraint.    Now all the moment has been transferred to this    restraint. It is not possible to design the support    for such a huge moment. Please advise any other method    to reduce these moments.

   Thanks
