Hi, Gentlemen,
Here Iam calling your attention to corrosion-erosion problem noticed in
Steam condensate lines in our Refinery / Petrochemical units.
Due to the severe erosion problems in Medium and High steam
condensate lines, the elbows and reducers at d/s of CVs are
punctured. One typical layout of a Medium pressure condensate
line CV station is enclosed for reference.
The erosion points noticed were :
(i) the elbow at the d/s Globe Valve (by-pass line)
(ii) the ecc. reducer and elbow at the d/s of CV
(iii) the Control Valve trims (316 SS)

Query :
1) Kindly let us know your expert opinion on above failures
2) Do you have any suggestion / comments on the piping layout used for CV
stations
3) Remedial actions reqd to avoid such failures in future
Best Regards
T Haridas
