They are and they were. Appleworks comes bundled with the machine and a
lot of other good software. If she needs MS Office that's available. The
bundled web browser, Safari, is far better than Netscape and faster than
Internet Exploder, and the Mail application (also bundled) is fabulous.
If you want to go over to her place and play UNIX, you can do that, too.

To quibble a bit, the cut and paste functions don't vary from Windows
except they don't use the control key and they always work the same in
every application, unlike Windows. Command-P is the universal hot key to
print, not paste.
