My apologies, Safdar. I assumed (first mistake) that by "software tester" you meant GUI testing. Then I spelt your name wrong (second mistrake).
As for the benefits of open source software, to me that's pretty apparent. At one point, any given program is going to get as good as it can get, and after that point all that can be added is bells and whistles.
