RE: PDS /PDMS / Microstation ??????

One of the main difference and advantage of PDS and PDMS is that they are intelligent enough to store all the designdata (called attributes) of the plant elements like pipe, eqpt, structure etc. PDS uses Oracle as a database engine.
Due to this the MTO for the whole project is can be extracted within minutes.

This is not possible (very easily) with AutoCAD and microstation 3D.

PDS/PDMS are the competitors of each others. They have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Well MicroSTation is a CAD software used for 2D and 3D drafting world wide.

where as PDS is the plant Design Software used for 3D modelling of Plants. It includes Piping, Strcuture, Equipment modelling etc. PDS requires MicroSTation as the base platform for modelling. PDMS is another Plant Design Software but it uses its own graphcis engine to model the Plant.
There are more plant design softwares like AutoPLANT which works on AutoCAD and PlantSPACE which works on MicroStation.
