Bentley have two parallel lines of products for plant design i.e. Plant
Space and AutoPLANT
http://www.bentley.com/products/disciplines/plant/physical/. AutoPLANT
can be run on AutoCAD and Plant Space on Microstation. All the major
functionality provided by PDA and PDMS is now being provided in
AutoPLANT like central database in SQL, Oracle and MSDE. The concept of
project is there, and piping, equipment & Raceways attributes are stored
in the databases and thus attributes of one drawing could be viewed by
anyone across project database. The access to project documents could be
full or limited and may other attributes.

Well MicroSTation is a CAD software used for 2D and 3D drafting world
wide.
where as PDS is the plant Design Software used for 3D modelling of
Plants. It includes Piping, Strcuture, Equipment modelling etc. PDS
requires MicroSTation as the base platform for modelling.
PDMS is another Plant Design Software but it uses its own graphcis
engine to model the Plant.
There are more plant design softwares like AutoPLANT which works on
AutoCAD and PlantSPACE which works on MicroStation.
