Bang on. Once you know the excitation, you can use the numbers to figure out whether there are problems that you can't feel with the new supports. The thing that'd haunt me is the possibility that you're getting these problems, not because of the plant expansion but from something inherent in the design. Just because the problems followed the exapansion doesn't necessarily mean that the expansion caused the problems.
