I believe what they are asking is whether the pump is an axial inlet design (in
plane of pump shaft) or a radial inlet design, perpindicular to the pump shaft.
This would be of importance in checking effect of thermal growth on the lines,
as it would tend to move the pump/affect alignment. This would also have impact
on vibrations being transmitted from the pump into the line, as axial vibration
is usually lower than radial.

What does the following phrases mean. Suction piping is 1. In same plane as pump shaft. 2. Perpendicular to the pump shaft. Which is this plane? for a split casing multi stage centrifugal pump.
