As for personal experiences, (these are sort of piping related): As I mentioned in my last post I was in the Navy. Well, in port for awhile, someone got the idea that we could make Apple jack in one of the evaporator ameroyal tanks, the tank was really a perfect size 24 Gals (US). One of the guys on restriction stole what he could get from the galley - sugar, raisons, apple juice, apples. He mixed it all up in the tank. Well guess when we tried it. We forgot about it ! It was in the tank for a couple of months. When were getting ready to go on a cruise we were starting up the steam plant. It turns out one of the last things you need is that ameroyal (sp?) tank. Well we had to get rid of it. We were all standing watch around the clock, no officers (in the engineroom) since we were still in port. The applejack tasted surprisingly very good. Unfortunately at least one of us had a bit too much. I was engineroom supervisor and ended up punching a young kid who was getting out of control. The problem was I was not in real good shape myself. The young kid slept it off, I appologized and thankfully that was the end of it. We did have to dump alot of the applejack, we needed the tank !
