I do not draft, but my experience has been with 2D CAD untill recently. In my current job the company uses 3D CAD and believe me, THAT is the future.   The package used here is Bentley REBIS, most probably way out of your range. I would never the less encourage you to go down the 3D path. Gordon

Does anyone have any comments/opinions on what is currently on the market? And relative cost of use?

I am currently bashing my head against a wall doing 2D piping in AutoCAD. Might as well draw by hand, as far as I'm concerned.
