Re: What is IP6

I currently look after piping modifications on Shell's North Sea assets. IP6 is a design code that we come across on a regular basis (at interfaces between topsides and subsea piping). It is the "Institute of petroleum's model code of practice, part 6". It specifically covers design, installation and commissioning codes and procedures relating to subsea pipelines and platform risers. It comes as no surprise that you have this detailed on your pig launcher data sheet, as it will have to comply with this design code as well as any topsides specifications and standards.

Hope this helps.
