RE: [Piping Design] End Connection Abbreviations

We are a Design and Fabrication Company. Here's our shop fabrication standard
that we use for pipe ends (used for cutting and finishing):

PE- Plain both ends

BE- Beveled both ends

GE- Grooved both ends

TE- Threaded both ends

PE- Plain ends are normally used for random lenghts (to be cut later), butt-welded S/S connection,

     slip-on-flange attachment, etc.

BE- Beveled ends are normally used for butt-welded C/S connection, weld neck C/S flanges, etc.

GE- Grooved ends are used for grooved coupling connection, victaulic, gruv-lok, etc.

TE- Threaded ends are used for screwed connections

Variations/Combinations :

PBE- Plain one end and beveled the other

PGE- Plain one end and grooved the other

PTE- Plain one end and threaded the other

BGE- Beveled one end and grooved the other

BTE- Beveled one end and threaded the other

GTE- Grooved one end and threaded the other

Notes :

1.) We do not specify left or right because these are readily traced from the Fabrication Drawings.

2.) If pipe ends are different, both shall be specified.

3.) We found this standard simple, natural and easy to remember.
