I think it makes stuff spin around, and stuff gets thrown outwards due to centripet...centrifug.. a kind of going around-like force, sort of like how the earth's rotation causes gravity to suck stuff back to the surface, only in reverse. This is why individual socks go missing after being placed in clothes dryers (no, this phenomenon is sadly not due to the often-told "Sock Abduction Fairies" urban legend).
