RE: Urgent - Geodetic head

Hi Steve,

This is a figure mentioned on the Pump Datasheet under the Discharge side....15m of water column....
Is this the head due to the physical height...as in the Bernoulli's principle (the velocity head is already calculated separately)

Rgds,
Jaydeep

Hi Jaydeep
geodetic height/head is sometimes referred to as the height/head above sea level ( MSL, HWLOST etc, etc). It allows for the earth not being truly circular, which raises some pumping head issues. Blame GPS. It is an inappropriate term for pumping, which is probably why you are unfamiliar with it.
Unfortunately I think you will need to ask the originator what he means. And at the same time ask him what is the local gravitational constant, as you have equal right to be pedantic.

Cheers

Steve

Hello all,

Could anyone please tell me what is the Geodetic head/height of a pump?

With best regards,
Jaydeep Naha.
