Thanks C Ponnu
I had been thinking about venturis as experience has shown that orifice
plates do not last in this application. Not sure how well a venturi would
last; thats why I was wondering about a bend meter. However you have talked
me into it; I will try a venturi. A water purge on the impulse lines should
stop blockage. I believe relative accuracy is more important than absolute
accuracy in this application.
At 50 C we can also use Hastelloy C; its the higher temperatures that seem to cause the problem.
Thanks again
Steve

Subject: RE: [PipingDesign] Flowmeter for hot Fluosilicic Acid
Dear Steve,
I have seen ,though for a lower temperature of nearly 50 deg C, Diaphragm pumps with Hast C head and PTFE diaphragm working successfully. These pumps were made by LEWA of Germany.
For the flow meter would you like to consider caliberated venturies with PTFE lining ?
Regards
C Ponnu
