I was asked a question that maybe somebody readily knows the answer to from
direct experience.
API 607 Fire testing (soft seating) valves. The standard does not appear to
have rules for
reporting test results or outcomes from test results in order to qualify the
valves. I know valves are tested for compliance but what is the procedure
and criteria for reporting and certifying such valves.
Alberta REsearch COuncil did for a a time do testing for one manufacturing
but we just issued a technical report. IS this all that is required to state
the valves meet API607 ?
What is the pass fail criteria. My understanding is that it is just time
duration under fire temperature conditions for leak. What is the leak rate
criterion.
IS there any formal process? perhaps NFPA provides criteria.
