I understand from the photograph,the pump is centreline mounted -an API 610
design;
I also notice the pipe anchor on the discharge side which should take care of
misalignment flange load upto the anchor; the load that will come on the
discharge flange of the pump will be limited due to the pipe anchor. Considering
the allowable nozzle loads by API and that the temperature is ambient,I feel
that the pump should be able to take it easily.I am unable to see the suction
side clearly. I think the rail type base frames will also be able to take the
moments and transfer it to ground (assuming it is grouted well).
I also look forward to hear other member's opinion.
Have you calculated the moment and forces that the pipe line may bring on the pump or anchor nozzle (approximately atleast).In such a case you can refer it to the Pump Vendor

Please briefly describe the mounting of the pump to the ground. In the photo, do I see a rail? How is expansion compensated for in the existing design?
Thanks

Subject: [PipingDesign] Anchor near pump nozzles
Dear Group,
I would like your advice on the subject item.
An existing electric driven centrifugal pump installed at a crude pipeline booster station has a pipe anchor on both the suction and discharge lines. This intent is to eliminate any moments and force transfer to the pump nozzle. Pls see the attached photograph. The pump operates at ambient condition (Design ambient temperature is 82 deg C). Please see the photograph after upload.
Will this arrangement pose a problem during the piping alignment with the pump nozzle. I feel, any fabrication tolerance of this anchor that will not allow the pipe flange to match exactly with the aligned pump nozzles will reflect as a load on the pump.
