Good luck! If this were in the US I don't think ice would meet the Section III requirements for emergency feedwater. The 50.59 would be a nightmare. If you have Tech Spec time it might be best to declare the system inop and perform the mod in the allotted time. Also, when welding, the freeze seal should be far enough away so that weld temperature is maintained. I had a freeze seal procedure for a nuclear plant. I will look for it if you need it. The back-up emergency back-up feed system is supposed to be able to operate during an earthquake, so now I just have to work out how to seismically qualify some firehoses and a block of ice...
