Pipeline Precomm Question

Gents,

My question is concerning the precommissioning of offshore pipeline. There are two pipelines at the size of 10" and 14" which connects two platforms. Pipeline length is approximately at 14km, and the pipeline was laid in parallel one to another. Water depth is about 70-90 meter deep, located in the South East Asia. The pipeline is meant for crude. I have no details of wall thickness whatsoever. This pipeline is newly constructed and upon completion of the pipelaying activities, the pipeline will be cleaned (pigging), hydrotest and dewater. There is no requirement for drying and N2 purging for this time being.

When the bid was opened for precommissioning services, there is an option of executing the precommissioning services concurrently for both pipeline utilizing a Y-piece. Here goes my questions.

  1. What if the operation is to be done concurrently, how do you maintain the pressurization rates (during hydrotest)to both pipeline considering it is of different diameter and thickness?
  2. How do you maintain pushing pig train at an optimum given speed range of 0.5 to 1m/s. if utilizing a single equipment spread?
  3. Other than the items in (1) and (2), what are other concerns i should be taking into my considerations?

Thanks a lot for any replies. Received on Thu Jul 29 21:18:00 2004
