Hi,

When you are talking in Power Generation and Refinery you use Tube, When you are talking about Oil or Water transmition you will use Pipe, I read this in Mark's handbook.
Hope this helps

Hi,

In Pipes, OD of pipe remains same upto 14" and thickness of pipe varies which further results in change in ID. Pipes are represented by Nominal Bore. Schedule / Thickness and NB/NPS is required for ordering of pipes.

In Tubes, ID remains same and OD varies with change in Thickness. ID and Thk requires for ordering of tubes. Tubes are generally available upto 8" size. These are mainly used for Instrumentation purpose.

I hope this will be useful to you.

rakesh
