It's important to realize that Caesar doesn't really do anything that
most general purpose FEA software can do. Piping layouts are basically
calculated as frameworks. The elbow and tee elements have their
flexibility adjusted automatically, and most software can do
'reports--basically tarted up ouput listings. Or you can 'roll your
own' using post-processed output like I do with Cosmos/M ALGOR and
ANSYS and probably some others have 'simplified' input generators, but
it's not all that tough doing it the hard way if you need to. Caesar
has a lot of nice features, but if you're pushed to do FEA, most
general purpose programs will do the job.
And never forget that software doesn't do engineering, it only does arithmetic. As a general rule the 'simpler' the interface, the more decisions are being made by the program without your control.
