Don't do this. There's no reason to believe that the poor threads won't lead to corrosive or structural failure. A lot of people had to learn this the hard way--find yourself a vendor you can trust to provide you with quality fittings.

That said, if you have only minor damage you may be able to fix it by chasing the threads with a tap or die and clean them up.
