Mitre bends have a number of problems.
--The sharp bends at the cuts produce very high stress, and they're
subject to fatigue.
--Fabrication is tricky because of the need for precision and
distortion at the welds
--You need full penetration welds that should be welded and ground both
sides
--The weld joints also require some level of NDT which adds to the cost
--Fluid flow through a miter is turbulent so the pressure drop will be
higher and
there may be problems with corrosion depending on the material chosen.
