I feel that ANSI class is what you mean, but in Nuclear piping, Section III,
Class 1, 2, or 3 is the QA rating for the component. You also see NB, NC,
etc.

Subject: Re: [PipingDesign] PIPE CLASS AND SCHEDULE
I would like to add the following to Amit message:
Piping Class is something like ANSI Class 125, 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500, etc. for instance ANSI Class 300 is rated for 740 psi @ 100 deg F and Ansi Class 600 is rated for 1440 psi @ 100 deg. F.
Pipe Schedule has to do with pipe wall thickness only. Pressure rating for pipes varies, it is the engineer responsibility to select the pipe schedule and SMYS for the required class; for ANSI Class 300, you may have have different pipe schedule for the piping class, it may be 3" Sch 40 and 30" sch 80 pipe system.
Pressure rating for piping depends on the code (B31.3, 31.4, 31.8, etx.), corrosion allowance, mill tolerance, fluid temperature, fluid type, etc.
Cheers,

Dear Washoo
pipe class is a document which contains the compatible pipe and the piping
components that are to be used under a specific pressure ,temperature
condition ,and the service to which they have to cater. it also contains the
material specification, type ,rating , dimensional standard of all these
items. It also gives u the pipe shedule to be used...it serves as the basic
guiding document for the designers. generally piping softwares have database
options based onthese pipe classes.
while pipe shedule is only a standard thickness for the pipes that are available in market. once we have calculated the pipe thick nesss required for design conditons, we stadardise the pipe thickness by assigning them the shedule available in the standard...for ex ASME B 31.3
