Regarding questions from 'incompetent engineers' - let us have a FAQ which
will guide us to some relevant guidelines/codes & standard/recommended good
practices. This will also help us to refresh our memories from time to time.
I do understand that to create such page, sufficient time & energy need to be invested from experts in this field.

As I grew (and grow) in my career I have worked with many individuals some like Chris Wright and some like Jack Osborn - I would rather work with the Chris Wright's any day - yes they are blunt, maybe even inappropriate at times but I have appreciated their guidance and I don't ever think any offense was truly intended - more likely just a message like "sit your lazy ass down and do some research" - point taken - engineering is all about learning - continuous learning. There is no excuse for emails that begin with "tell me everything" - the people writing them are LAZY and INCOMPETENT. However we all start out as incompetent engineers - so I guess it is our job to be supportive.
I am really taking offense to Mr. Osborn's continued harassment of Mr. Wright - you had your say now let it go - VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
As for how to deal with the question of these "tell me everything emails" - I would like to suggest that maybe we could compile an email which could be a blanket response to messages which are too vague to answer effectively. It could take the form of:
