Do you guys really install a spacer to make up for the temp. startup strainer that was removed?

I can understand that for the blinds on large bore piping but for strainer?? The installation tolerance to makeup for the fitup allowed in industry to intsall a process piping is much more than the thicknes of the strainer plus the gasket. We even pulled piping to match the nozzle of compressor/turbine/pump etc using come along - no problemo.

By the way if the P&id or th piping iso does not show a spacer but you added anayway due to some concern, this is probably consider design change and be falling under the management of change program. And if we're talking about hundreds of such joints then thats a real killer at the plant. And for what? Received on Sun Sep 04 05:27:00 2005
