Today if you work in a major plant its done using mostly computers/softwares
the likes of SAP, Meridium, Primavera and PDS - very high tech but still
with lots of problem. And it dont end with the piping system is installed
and commission. What I find surprising is the problem gets crazier during
the running of the plant when one start considering debottlenecking,
maximizing the capacity or improving the process (without necessarily
increasing the production rate) or simplying reducing the incident rate.
With all these ERP, CMMS, high cost engineering software, ISO certification, enviromental release, meeting project schedules, safety audits, keeping the expense down etc etc - what was once a simple engineering undertaking (like piping) has just gone way way very complicated. Is this true with others? Or its justme.
