my Take.
  1. would like to know if it is mandatory to replace all gaskets after pressure test of piping? No.
  2. If we do replace the same how do we ensure proper flange tightening? By The use of impact wrench and hydrulic torque machines for piping flange joint coupled with the proper bolt tightening pattern. And by The use of hydrualic tensioner for large dia flange connected to a piece of equipment like heat exchanger. On the assumption of course that the fitup is within tolerance.
  3. I believe one of the major role of pressure testing of pipes is to ensure proper bolt

345.1 of ASME B31.3-2002 reads in part "... each piping system shall be tested to ensure tightness." I guess the satement refers not only to flange joint of the pipe. Received on Tue Sep 06 03:49:00 2005
