Dear Guys ;

Do you have experience or knowledge what would happen is outer ring of SW gasket is very badly corroded or even completely gone ? As I understand the purpose of the outer ring is for center alignment, compression stop and anti blowout device. But for the third reason, I believe some defect must've been experienced at the spiral wound first. If the spiral wound is still in a good shape, would it be blown out or leaking ? Any experience with this situation ? How to assess the condition of corroded gasket ?
Thanks !!"
