Chris,

The vessel doesnt have a code plate.

The vessel is 1000mm diameter 1500mm high approximately.

The ASME Code only concerns itself with the maximum allowable working pressure which must be equal to or greater than the expected normal service pressure. The margin between ordinary service and the MAWP is set by the owner or the owner's rep and could be about anything and will be set to accomodate pressure increases due to surge or other loads. The Code plate BTW isn't the same thing as an ID tag placed by the manufacturer. If the vessel has a Code plate, it'll carry the ASME 'cloverleaf' and the MAWP and maximum allowable service temperature. If the vessel doesn't have an actual Code plate it's not a Code vessel. How big is it? Is it stationary?
