Cris,
Actually I am not trying to qualify a component. My concern here is a 5-year old part buried & part aboveground 20" A53-B Std. Wall (.375") CL 150# pipeline from an adjacent plant to another originally conveying a 100 psig at 70 deg F natural gas which I will rerate to 300# by replacing the valves & flanges to 300# but reusing the std. wall 20" A53-B pipe with a design pressure of 550psig at 150 deg F which results to a hydrotest pressure of 825 psig. Based on my calculations the old pipe will experience near SMYS stresses during hydrotest which our QA/QC guy wants to hold test pressure for 4 hours. Would the pipe be usable after the hydrotest considering the stress it encountered?
Rick
