I'm not sure where there are formal definition of these terms as they might
differentially relate to pipelines, but perhaps it could be explained that any
different, individual components of any say layered (e.g. coated and/or lined)
or composite pipelines and contents all have their own some different densities
or weights per unit volume in a specific medium (e.g. if weighed in air).
Based on the aggregate (say unit) weight of the pipeline and contents as a whole however, divided its overall (say unit) volume determined by its outside diameter, a different magnitude overall or "bulk density" could perhaps be determined for the pipeline and contents.

Subject: [PipingDesign] Fwd: density / bulk density
Dear,
We are doing the river crossing calculation for 16" pipeline(onshore)for Natural Gas.
I would like to know if there is any difference between Density and Bulk density of Concrete coated pipe.
Currently i am using Concrete Density as 2500 Kg/m^3
and LP coating Density as .92 g/cc.
As in the calculation both density and bulk density is required. Please clarify the above.
And if possible please mention the value in your mail.
Thanks and Regards
Subir
