  Used Foamglass in several applications like piping and heat exchangers to name a few. The installed cost is actually less compared to other "hot" insulation material.

i have also used a coating that the sales engineers claim has an insulating properties. tried it too but at a temp lower that 300degC. Its performance is a dissapointment. Ended up reblasting the equipment, recoating and applying the insualtion back.

Our concern then is more related to CUI. do you guys have any idea related to failure of piping or any insualted mech'l equipment as a result of CUI? Its big. ASTM has several publications related to this. usch as the STP 880. Lots of failure related to piping. Received on Mon Dec 25 02:50:00 2006
