Piping vibration.
What ever software you got to analyze pipe stresses wont be of any value if youre working to reduce the level of vibration in a piping already in-service to an acceptable level without getting the vibration reading in several locations.
The mode shape will define how the fix is going to be made. Normally the procedure that ive used goes something like this:
Define the limits of piping.
Get a vibration reading.
Get hold of the process parameters.
Analyze the reading.
Design and install the fix or reroute the piping or change location
or type of existing supports.
Get another vibration reading after the fix.
If the level has gone down to an acceptable level, run a pipe stress
then ensure that everything is within the allowables and then close
the work order.
If otherwise redo work.
Observe and do the as-built.
The guys at the rotating equipment will have the tools and the people who cantake the reading. The piping engineer responsbility is to evaluate the result of the reading and prepare the necessary fix and validate it. Received on Mon Dec 25 03:29:00 2006
