The minimum heat generating zone for weld is 25mm so as per asme.

So spool we can make minimum 50 mm. long. But it is good practice take 75 to 100mm.

long spool for pipe size upto 150 to 200mm. above that take equal to the dia of pipe or 300mm which ever minimum.

Subject: [PipingDesign] minimum pipe spool length

hi all,

May anyone tell what will be the minimum possible pipe spool length for a butt welded end connection.

As per AWS the minimum pipe spool length required in a line is one NPS. where site condition restricts this minimum requirement, is it possible to adopt

lesser length spools.

thanks and regards,
