i dont know what an impressed vibration is and ive worked with equipment vibration for quite some time.

if you guys wanted to learn about piping vibration then the very first thing u gotta to do is to understand the fundamentals of it say by going over the book by Mobley and Wowk. Then see if u can get hold of some writings from Southwest Research Institute or EDI - theyre good. Focus on the severity limits - theyre important.

Then see or find a guy who does vibration reading.

Get a reading, try to apply what u know about vibration and attempt to follow some of the suggestion provided by SwRI and EDI. Do the fix.

Get another reading. See if the level goes down to allowable.

Perform another stress calc based on the fix and check if the stress level are OK.

If results are OK. Stop. If not then rework. If the second attempt does not work, hire a consultant. Received on Sat Jan 13 05:01:00 2007
