Dear friends,
It is very difficult for the participants to be too much elaborative at the same time are crisp, short and sweet, on a forum like this. As Roy mentions, one has to be courteous enough in all the deals. Rudeness does not pay the desired returns.
I had been instrumental/part-taking in executing a few prestigious GRP projects that too the sizes stretching up to 4000 mm in diameter. The system was both above ground as well as underground.
The query here probably refers to the section above ground. If so the matters to be considered are the following.
1. What is the manufacturer’s supplied erection lengths?

2. What is the type of joining them?
a. Laminated.
b. Socket and spigot with resilient sealing ring.
3. In order to avoid loading the field executed
joints, as they are inferior to the mother pipe, it is ideal to support each supplied length at two locations.
4. The system needs to be analyzed for stress analysis, as a whole network. Friction factor at supports and coefficient of thermal expansion needs special attention (it much much higher for GRP as compared to steel). The stresses in the longitudinal and the transverse plains are different due to the fact that it depends on the angle of winding of the filaments. It may even be necessary to go for finite element analysis to ascertain the limits of induced stresses.
5. Solar radiation needs attention. Ultraviolet radiation can affect the pipe material. Addition of pigments to the resin, to add colour to the finished product is a desired feature.

Cheers!
