This is very basic question. I assume that you are working on a project. There will be guidelines and spans chart t, use them. If these project documents are not available for any reason, do refer piping books & guide. Major criteria are allowable bending moment and the maximum sag for vertical supports.
configuration of piping also plays a role in placing the support.

i strongly suggest to do your own calculation and discuss it with your supervisor before applying them.

Please guide me to select piping support span for 3450I.D. 39.7mm Thk & 2450 I.D. 28.7mm thk pipe. Service is Sea Water for cooling purpose. Design Pressure 6 Barg & design temp. is 50 Deg. C.
