If you have a pipe spec then im pretty sure you also got an
instrumentation spec (we do). The particualr valve or fittings
require to mount your inntrumentation to a pipe or any other
equipment is detailed in the instrumentation spec. check it out.
I havent seen a process system (hazardous or otherwise) that do not
have a threaded joint.
