Thanx Chris for your comments. it was't like that i knew nothing about surface area calculation. i have project specification for painting and the corrosponding relations for pipe fittings. but i was a bit confuse about Unios, Reducing Tee's etc etc. thats why i have asked here just for varification. Pipe, elbow, tee are simple as we can use equivalent lengths for dia. But i have no table or standard values for such calculation.

Can you tell me any book from where i can find standard values?

If I were to guess Mike probably knows a good deal more about what you're asking than you do. You might want to be a little careful with the big talk, since you're the one who needs help.

Give some thought to your problem instead of scoring points off your betters. For example think about how you might estimate the length of solid pipe corresponds to a particular fitting. An elbow for example is a bent length of straight pipe. If you knew exactly what length you could find the outside surface area from most pipe tables or figure it yourself from the elementary formula piOD^2L/4. The centerline length seems like good estimate for L so try it in the formula. Then go into a handbook and figure the area exactly to check yourself. For a tee the surface area equals the area of a pipe with the length of the run less the surface area of the branch opening plus the surface area of the branch. Estimate the surface area of the branch from the branch OD and your best estimate of the branch length. And so on.

Do the arithmetic with a spread sheet to save yourself some time. Learn to think for yourself, don't worry about smart answers and you might make a go of the piping business. Then you can be as much of a smart-ass as you like.
