My query was specific to the sentence that I quoted from your post.

I am aware that flanges may not be cut from plate and also the para from code that you have quoted in the next post under this thread,

"ASME Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII Div 1 Subpart 2-2(2) "Hubbed flanges … shall not be machined from plate or bar stock material unless the material has been formed into a ring." [further provisions and limitations follow]"

Therefore the query.

I've been saying for a couple of weeks now that the Code doesn't allow flanges (except blind flanges) cut from plate. I've also been saying that you should read the applicable Code paragraphs on the topic--a couple of times in reply to posts you've made.
